About the Foundation - Help
These Schools
We have
created the sitesALIVE Foundation to address a need articulated by many school systems.
Our decision to incorporate grew out of the frustrations we encountered at many schools
where teachers and principals enthusiastically reviewed on-line learning opportunities as
a valuable complement to traditional book and lecture-based learning but lacked the
expertise or funding to take advantage of them. As tax revenues fall and education budgets
are cut, more and more schools will be forced to do without many of the learning tools
that teachers and principals know would benefit their students and prepare them for the
future.
To date, over 50 schools in over a dozen states have expressed interest in the
Foundations mission. Included are public and private schools as well as charter
schools.
In addition, several compelling partnerships have also been developed with the hopes of
utilizing on-line learning opportunities:
- In Connecticut, LEARN, a regional resource center, in conjunction with Mystic Seaport
Museum, is seeking support for a three-year series of teacher-training workshops reaching
240 teachers that will use online learning programs.
- In Massachusetts, the Cambridge Public Schools (with additional interest from schools in
Arlington, Salem, and Gloucester) are seeking support for a similar teacher training
program in conjunction with Peabody-Essex Museum.
Please help the sitesALIVE Foundation help the growing list of schools and teachers who
want to offer their students the best learning opportunities possible.
